Adolescence is a period of intense upheaval — physical, hormonal, emotional. The body grows fast, sometimes unevenly, which can produce tension, imbalance and pain that often gets dismissed as "just growing".
Common adolescent issues
- Growing pains — especially at the knees (Osgood-Schlatter) and back
- Idiopathic scoliosis — sideways deviation of the spine, to monitor during the pubertal growth spurt
- Neck pain — linked to screen posture and backpack weight
- Muscle tension — after sport or from school-related stress
- Sleep disturbance — frequent at this age, often worsened by bodily tension
Why see someone during growth?
Through growth, the body is continuously reorganising itself. That makes it the best moment to correct imbalances before they become permanent. Osteopathic follow-up during adolescence can prevent many adult problems later.
My approach with teenagers
Adolescents benefit from treatment adapted to a still-developing body. I take the time to explain what I'm doing and why — understanding supports engagement. The techniques I use are gentle and respectful.
I also work on:
- Postural habits (position at the screen, how the bag is carried)
- Stretching advice matched to their sport
- Stress management through simple breathing techniques
When to book
- Persistent pain in the back, neck or limbs
- During a rapid growth spurt
- After a sports injury
- With scoliosis, as a complement to physiotherapy
- Preventively, once a year during growth
